An irrevocable trust is different from a revocable trust because the grantor cannot modify its terms or remove assets from it without getting permission from his or her named beneficiaries. While a revocable trust can be changed or cancelled anytime, an irrevocable trust is much harder to alter or cancel and requires the grantor to technically give up ownership of any assets placed into it. But why would someone choose this option?
